Cephus reached an agreement with the Bills on Sunday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Cephus is attempting to revive his NFL career after he was suspended all of last season for violating the league's gambling policy. The 26-year-old wide receiver played in 13 games with Detroit during his 2020 rookie campaign, totaling 20 receptions for 349 yards and two touchdowns, but he participated in just nine contests in the subsequent two years, compiling 17 catches for 219 yards and two scores. Cephus will have a chance to compete for a roster spot among a Buffalo wide receiver corps that will look much different from last season with the offseason departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

Cut after suspension
Cephus, who received an indefinite suspension from the NFL on Friday for having violated the league's gambling policy, was subsequently waived by the Lions, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Cephus appeared in 22 games with the Lions after being selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, recording 37 receptions for 568 yards and four touchdowns over that span. The speedster was expected to compete for a backup receiver role again this summer, but with the suspension wiping out that possibility, the team decided to cut its losses immediately.

2021
2020
After Tyrell Williams went down Week 1 and before Cephus broke his collarbone Week 5, the Wisconsin product had a large role that commanded over 70 percent of the offensive snaps per game. This offseason, though, Detroit went out and invested in the 6-4 DJ Chark in free agency and then traded up in the first round to add another promising perimeter receiver in Jameson Williams. With Amon-Ra St. Brown locked into the slot role, Cephus seems no higher than No. 4 or 5 on the depth chart entering 2022. However, if the Lions take a cautious approach with Williams' return from an ACL injury, the short list of candidates to take his spot in the starting lineup would be Cephus and Josh Reynolds.
